AZ OnTrack Summer Camp - casa grande

Supporting Casa Grande students through an engaging, fun, and educational Summer Camp!

Brought to you by the Casa Grande Alliance in partnership with the Casa Grande Elementary School District

Ready. Set. Whoaaa!

AZ OnTrack Summer Leadership Camp - Casa Grande will enrich, advance, and connect your Kindergarten through 8th-grade students to enable them to enter the 2022-23 school year with greater excitement and confidence!

Register your students for 5 weeks of learning adventures — at no cost to your family. The camp will  be held Monday-Thursday and begin June 6th ending on July 7th.

Our Summer Camp experience will include  experienced teachers, onsite school counselors, NAU AmeriCorps mentors, and 8+ community members to teach electives such as music, dance, sewing, etc!

Who is eligible to participate as a Camper?

Camp is available to any Kindergarten through Eighth Grade student in the Casa Grande area.  Our Camp will prioritize enrollment for students demonstrating academic needs.

How much will Camp cost my family?

Our AZ OnTrack Summer Camp program is provided at no cost to families. Our program is funded by a combination of AZ OnTrack and other funding sources, so we may offer these learning experiences free of charge!

What’s the catch? No catch. Announced at the 2022 State of the State by Governor Doug Ducey, AZ OnTrack Summer Camp has been designed to address the learning gaps and losses that the last two years have caused students statewide — and throughout the world. Over $100 million from the American Rescue Plan Act has made it possible to fund these varied Summer Camp offerings.  In the Governor’s own words, “Come June, we’re launching a Summer Camp—with an emphasis on catching kids up in key areas: Math, Reading and American civics. We will lead the way to eliminate learning loss.”

Summer Camp participants will have a learning experience that will provide daily opportunities to engage in conversations about attitudes and behaviors that support learning, focused time devoted to mastering core academic skills, opportunities to extend learning through creative and interactive civic learning activities, supportive and team-building recreational activity, and the opportunity to learn new hobbies, personal and life skills through bringing community “guest” instructors into our Summer Leadership Camp program.

Casel’s SEL framework will be used as the basis for our curriculum about attitudes and behaviors that support learning. SEL is an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

The core curriculum for Math and Language Arts that will be used is the i-Ready Reading and Math Tutoring Pack/ i-Ready Reading and Math Personalized Learning for each student.  The Tutoring Support Packs for Mathematics and English Language Arts contain a curated selection of resources for Grades K–8, appropriate for use by student-facing staff of any experience level.  i-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill levels and needs, so your student can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep students engaged as they learn.

For Civics, we will use a staff-developed curriculum aligned to standards, using the iCivics curriculum and other resources available through the Teaching for Democracy Alliance.  iCivics champions equitable, non-partisan civic education so that the practice of democracy is learned by each new generation. We work to inspire life-long civic engagement by providing high-quality and engaging civics resources to teachers and students across our nation.

To extend learning, Summer Camp will also include curriculum-aligned enrichment activities based in cooperative and experiential learning principles.  Youth will be involved in creating and sharing artwork plays, skits, songs, raps, etc.   Summer Camps will also include regular periods for structured play (games, relays, kickball, etc.). Lastly, enrichment classes that invite community members share hobbies, crafts, and recreational skills (folklorico, guitar, hip hop dance, gaming, drama, sewing, babysitting, ukulele, etc.) will be offered.
