CASA GRANDE CIVIL RIGHTS YOUTH ART CONTEST?

Dr. King's vision for a "Beloved Community"  is a global vision in which all people can share in the wealth of the earth. In the Beloved Community, poverty, hunger, and homelessness will not be tolerated because international standards of human decency will not allow it (see below for more details about the Beloved Community).

Use the information about Dr. King's vision to express your take on life in the community of Casa Grande.

WHO CAN PARTICPATE?

 This contest is for students in grades 6-12.  Submissions can be created by a group or an individual.  

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY ARTWORK

 Your artwork can be any size and shape and can be created using any medium. Electronic submissions should be sent to Taylor at ExecAssistant.CGA@gmail.com. By submitting for the contest, the student and parent give their consent to posting and sharing of the video by Casa Grande Alliance.   QUESTION - Please contact Taylor by phone at (520) 836-5022 or by email at ExecAssistant.CGA@gmail.com.


With your contest submissions, please include your name, email, school, and grade.   PLEASE put ART CONTEST SUBMISSION in the subject line of the email.  


To submit original artwork, you are welcome to drop the art pieces of at our office - Casa Grande Alliance, 280 W. McMurray Boulevard, Casa Grande, AZ 85122

HOW WILL THE CIVIL RIGHTS ART CONTEST BE JUDGED?

Initially the artwork will be vetted by the Casa Grande Youth Alliance members, as well as the CGA staff and board.  The top 20 pieces will be displayed online and the public will vote on their favorites.  

WHAT CAN I WIN?

 The Grand prize is $500. Five additional $100 prizes will be awarded to the top five runners up.  

WHAT IS THE CONTEST DEADLINE?

The Contest Deadline has been extended and is now Friday, February 17, 2022 

CASA GRANDE CIVIL RIGHTS SPOKEN WORD VIDEO CONTEST DETAILS

WHAT IS SPOKEN WORD?

Spoken Word is broad designation for poetry intended for performance. Though some spoken word poetry may also be published on the page, the genre has its roots in oral traditions and performance. Spoken word can encompass or contain elements of rap, hip-hop, storytelling, theater, and jazz, rock, blues, and folk music. Characterized by rhyme, repetition, improvisation, and wordplay, spoken word poems frequently refer to issues of social justice, politics, race, and community. Related to slam poetry, spoken word may draw on music, sound, dance, or other kinds of performance to connect with audiences.

VIDEOS NOT SUBMITTED TO TAY BY THE DEADLINE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED!

HOW WILL THE VIDEO'S BE JUDGED?

The public will be able to view the video submissions on the website, casagrandealliance.com and cast their ballots for their favorite video.

ON BUILDING the BELOVED COMMUNITY

THE BELOVED COMMUNITY...

The new film focuses on Dr. Martin Luther King’s articulation of the Beloved Community in that it is possible to create civil, equitable, and harmonious communities through non-violent social change.  BCP - through film, storytelling, history, current events, and movement, addresses global issues with local relevance and asks what each of us can do for a change.

A Servant Leadership Program for Teens
